Mel has worked in the Disability Sector since 2006 and has spent 12 of those years in people management roles and has led teams both small and large. Mel’s experience has mostly fallen within Accommodation (now SIL provision) and has worked in a variety of people management roles such as Team leader, House Supervisor, Operations Manager, and Acting Senior Leadership roles. Most of these roles have been within State Government Disability Sector, however she has also had experiences fluttered within the private sector.
Mel’s passion for working with people with disabilities has continued to grow over the years and her mission of promoting greater quality of life for people with disabilities continues to motivate her everyday.
Mel is based in Ararat and has a keen interest in building on and within her community and takes pride in collaborating with local providers to achieve outcomes for her participants.
Mel has experience in supporting participants with psychosocial disabilities, physical disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. She understands the dynamics of service provision for people living in SDA and SIL environments. Mel has experience in complex cases where dual diagnosis occurs and makes it her priority to put the person in the centre of all service provision. Mel is responsive and efficient in her work and her professional values of respect, honesty and transparency drive her work ethic.
Mel holds an Advanced Diploma of Disability CHC60108, holds a current First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, WWCC and NDIS screening check.
